About the Provider

Witnessing the resilience of people facing difficult situations—their motivation to make positive changes and their hope for themselves and their families—is what inspires Monica in her daily practice. She began her career as an addictions counselor working with incarcerated women. Today, she helps people address addictions, manage depression and anxiety and navigate life’s milestones and transitions, such as pregnancy, family and relationship issues. Her approach is trauma-informed, seeking to recognize how people may have been impacted by trauma and using that understanding to adjust her approach and behavior. Her training included substantial emphasis on marginalized communities, including the historic and generational trauma members have experienced, how systems have impacted them differently, and how as a clinician, she can take action to prevent continued oppression in her practice. She has worked with many immigrant and refugee people, helping them navigate our systems, adjust to their new lives and connecting them to resources in the community.

Monica was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys all it offers it terms of outdoor activities. She also likes to travel and particularly loves visiting national parks. Here at home she enjoys baking, gardening and doing projects around her new home.
